Artificial Intelligence

In the State of Colorado, we are dedicated to leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to improve public services, foster innovation, and ensure the ethical, equitable and responsible deployment of emerging technologies.

With the growing popularity of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), we see its potential to transform how we work at the state, driving efficiency, innovation, and new capabilities to serve the public interest and contribute to the overall well-being of Coloradans. At the same time, we understand GenAI raises new risks requiring human judgment and oversight to review for accuracy, bias and completeness.

OIT Guide to AI

Colorado Broadband Office

The Colorado Broadband Office leads a statewide effort to expand broadband coverage and quality for all Coloradans. Access to affordable and reliable broadband service is critical to advancing Colorado’s economic growth and competitiveness. High-speed broadband creates new jobs and attracts new industries, expands markets for new and existing businesses, enables better access to educational opportunities and resources, facilitates the delivery of healthcare services, and supports public safety. Broader deployment of broadband infrastructure and services will improve the quality of life for Coloradans and support the state’s global economic competitiveness.

Government Data Advisory Board (GDAB)

Representing all State of Colorado agencies and government offices, we work collaboratively to promote the use of good data to serve Coloradans. We are working to align our respective agencies to create common understandings and efficiencies and then develop resources that can be taken by agencies and adopted for use, such as guides and policies. we also provide an annual report to the Joint Technology Committee and respond to legislative tasking.

By sharing best practices across agencies and working to support the Digital Government Strategic Plan, we are creating a collaborative culture around data that helps the state operate efficiently for the benefit of Coloradans.

GIS Coordination & Development Program

We realize the full value of geographic information systems by making access to comprehensive data, including broadband service data, seamless and formatted in a way that maximizes its benefit to decision-making in the state. We are a place where Coloradans can gain answers and expertise about GIS and its possibilities in order to expand the value of these technologies as efficiently and effectively as possible, and we are the facilitator of a robust GIS community where knowledge and information is shared freely.
