OIT Announces Strategic Realignment to Better Serve Coloradans and Make State Government More Efficient

DENVER, May 27, 2026 — The Colorado Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) today is announcing a large-scale realignment, including a workforce reduction, a new operating model, and a leadership transition. Together, these changes are designed to fundamentally improve how the state designs, builds and maintains the technology Coloradans depend on to access government services. The new human-centered product delivery model ensures OIT better supports agency missions and their end users, resulting in easy-to-use digital tools that work for Coloradans.

DENVER, March 23, 2026 — Brandy Reitter, Executive Director of the Colorado Broadband Office within the Governor’s Office of Information Technology, has been named a 250 Champions honoree by the National Academy of Public Administration and LocalGov250. Colorado Kicks Off Plans for Reliable, High-Speed Middle-Mile Internet

DENVER, Jan. 28, 2026 — The Colorado Broadband Office (CBO) is launching a strategy to enhance the state’s middle-mile broadband network, the core infrastructure that not only improves daily cellular, wireless and redundant fiber connectivity for Coloradans, but also supports advanced technologies such as quantum computing and other emerging and transformative technologies. Over the next year, the CBO will lead the effort to establish a clear, state-led direction for middle-mile connectivity.  

Introducing the Colorado Digital ID™ Verifier in myColorado®

DENVER, Dec. 19, 2025 — This week, the Governor’s Office of Information Technology released the new Colorado Digital ID Verifier for businesses and government entities at all levels, enabling them to verify the authenticity of Colorado Digital IDs within the myColorado app and enhance security for its users. Going forward, the state recommends that anyone seeking to verify an individual’s identity use the Colorado Digital ID Verifier rather than relying solely on the image for verification.

Colorado Approved for $420 Million in Federal Broadband Funding, Connecting Rural Colorado

DENVER, Dec. 1, 2025 —Today, the Colorado Broadband Office (CBO), under the Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT), announced that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has approved Colorado’s Final Proposal under the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program, unlocking $420.6 million in federal funding from the Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for the state’s broadband infrastructure.
